cat palmer was born and raised in orange county, california. cat used to only shoot 35mm black and white, but she joined the "dark side" of professional digital in 2005. cat used to be against digital; the quality and creativeness (in the dark room) just was not there. these were her opinions before using a professional digital camera. the creativeness on the computer helps compensate for the dark room...though it will never truly be the same. women are cat\'s main art subjects because to her they have such beauty and strength. she loves absurd things in objects and people. she loves the unexpected and dirty objects. everything she shoots holds beauty to her. since early 2007 cat has found her passion in shooting pieces with a message.

cat was an invited artist to the utah arts festival, 2007. in september 2007 & 2008, city weekly awarded cat with the arty's award of best photographer. in 2009, the utah art s festival awarded cat with the best of show award. cat has shot for slug magazine and salt lake city weekly. cat served on the board of director\'s for the women\'s art center, was the curator and has taught classes there. several cat has taught a workshop with her husband, blake, at art access. magazines and newspapers throughout salt lake have ran articles on cat and her art including: cover of 'in' magazine, salt lake tribune, standard examiner, go!, deseret morning news, the chronicle, city weekly, slug magazine, and park city tv. cat has lectured at several colleges in the salt lake area.

all of her artwork incorporates metal or piping. cat is drawn to the industrial feel of art and items. cat uses metal piping from the home improvement store to hang her curtains at home. while thinking about how to frame her pieces for her first show in 2004, she was sitting in her living room looking at her pipe-curtain rods. cat started digging in the industrial metal works for recycled metal pieces. she now goes to random places to find metal.

since 2001, cat has resided in beautiful northern utah, with her artist & graphic design husband, blake, their children and their rescued dog, copper . they make an amazing art team and often will be hired by companies to come and shoot and redesign logos, business cards and menus. in 2009 they will celebrate their 11-year wedding anniversary.

cat has shown at several places throughout salt lake city including: utah arts festival 2009, 2008 & 2007, park city arts festival 2009, jackson hole arts festival 2009, art access, university of utah, H2O, ken sanders rare books, kayo gallery, utah arts festival gallery, the tin angel cafe, mestizo cafe, caffe niche, broadway theater, the women\'s art center, slow train, mony ty\'s house, poor yorick, cisco 13, broken records, turn\'s art & soul, nouveaux alt, carlucci's bakery, coffee break, cup of joe, stoneground, elase medical spa, trubella medical spa, and the unknown gallery.
